Pick a Number 1-5

A fast way to pick a number from 1 to 5. Great for games, small choices and classroom activities.

Press Generate or hit the space bar.

Pick a number from 1 to 5

Sometimes you only need a small decision: which of five options, which of five students, or which of five rounds. This picker gives you one number from 1 to 5, with a one in five chance for each. It is quicker than writing numbers on paper and folding them.

You can still widen the range, roll several numbers at once or turn off repeats. Set the range to 1 and 5, ask for five numbers with duplicates off, and you get a random order for all five items.

How to use this tool

  1. Keep the range at 1 to 5.
  2. Press Generate or the space bar.
  3. Map the number to your choice, for example 1 for the first option on your list.
  4. To put five things in random order, set How many? to 5 and untick Allow duplicate numbers.

Ways to use it

  • Choosing one of five options for dinner, a movie or a weekend plan.
  • Selecting which student answers next from a numbered list.
  • Playing guessing games with friends and family.
  • Turning a five-point scale into a random sample for testing.

Is it fair and private?

Every result on SpinPicker is picked at random by your own browser, and every number or entry has exactly the same chance. Nothing is sent to a server, so nobody else can see or change your result.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use this to put five things in order?
