When to use a decider wheel

A decider machine is useful for the small decisions that eat up time: what to cook, whether to go out, who picks the film. The wheel starts with Yes, No, Maybe and Ask Again Later. You can change the text to anything you like, from two options to a long list.

Give an option extra weight by adding x2 or x3 after it. If you want a 75 percent chance of Yes, enter Yes x3 and No on two separate lines. The wheel slices become larger or smaller to match the odds, so what you see is what you get.

How to use this tool

  1. Edit the entries on the right, one choice per line.
  2. Pick a colour palette or open Advanced options for more control.
  3. Press the Spin button on the wheel, or press the space bar.
  4. Read the result in the pop-up. Use Remove this option if you want to narrow things down.

Ways to use it

  • Settling small arguments at home, at work or in a group chat.
  • Choosing between two or three realistic options when you feel stuck.
  • Teaching probability with weighted options in a classroom.
  • Adding a bit of fun to party games and truth-or-dare nights.

Is it fair and private?

Every result on SpinPicker is picked at random by your own browser, and every number or entry has exactly the same chance. Nothing is sent to a server, so nobody else can see or change your result.

Frequently asked questions

Is the wheel biased towards Yes?

No. The winner is picked at random first, then the wheel spins and lands on it. Every slice has a chance that matches its size.

Can I change the options?

Yes. Edit the entries box. You can add as many choices as you like and change the colours, sounds and spin time.

Can I make one answer more likely?

Yes, by adding a weight such as Yes x3. That entry gets a larger slice and three times the chance.

Should I use it for big decisions?

It is meant for fun and everyday tie-breaks. For important choices, use it only as a nudge and think it through.
