Pick a Number Games: 10 Ideas for Kids and Adults

Not every game needs cards or a board. A random number is enough for all of these. Use the 1 to 10 generator, the 1 to 5 picker, or set your own range.

Guessing games

  1. Higher or lower: pick a secret number from 1 to 100. Players take turns guessing and you answer higher or lower. See who needs the fewest guesses.
  2. Hot and cold: after each guess, say hot if it is within 5 of the number, warm within 10, cold otherwise.
  3. Closest wins: everyone writes a guess, you reveal the number, and the nearest guess scores a point.

Icebreakers and groups

  1. Number off: give everyone a number and draw one to decide who shares first.
  2. Two truths and a number: each player shares two facts and one number, and the group guesses what it means.
  3. Random teams: pick unique numbers to form teams.

Family and travel

  1. Road trip bingo: pick a number between 1 and 5 to decide how many things to spot before the next stop.
  2. Chore lottery: assign each job a number and let the generator decide who gets what.
  3. Bedtime story roulette: number a handful of story themes and draw one.
  4. Mystery challenge: draw a number and do that many jumping jacks, jokes or compliments.

Making it fairer

If you want each number to come up once before any repeats, switch off Allow duplicate numbers and generate the whole set at once. For long games, keep the history list open so everyone can see what has already been drawn.
